I studied to be a graphic designer and I never got to finish the degree. I am what you call a self-taught designer, I’ve learned most of what I know in on my own. I’ve always been interested in art, and at the same moment when I was falling in an existential crisis, I discovered graphic design by chance. It saved my life.
When did you first get involved with design?
Well, I’ve got some blurred memories from when I was very little, cutting out people and animals from my grandmother’s magazines. I used to put people’s faces onto animal bodies and vice versa. Years after that, when I opened Photoshop for the first time (circa 2000). I discovered the lasso tool and layers I started doing collages without understanding what I was doing. It sort of just happened.
Is there any work you’re particularly proud of?
I’m pretty happy with the latest pieces I have released, ‘The walk’, ’the pantheist’, and “Sighting”. If I had to choose one word that would be the one, definitely.
In your view, as a graphic designer what were your biggest challenges?
Without any doubt, the main challenge I faced was to make a living out of my personal work, having no clients (I mean brands, agencies, etc), no deadlines, no absurd last minute changes. It seemed almost impossible a few years ago but now I can say I made it happen.
What inspires you?
Music and nature are my main sources of inspiration. This planet is a beautiful place.
